In association with RRL, Bhubaneshwar, process technology for recovery of copper and zinc from complex sulphide ores, treatment of low grade vanadiferrous ores, processing copper converter slags with the collaboration of Hindustan Copper Ltd., Khetri, has been developed.
Capabilities are available with the Division to undertake process appraisal studies involving complex and low grade raw materials, such as polymetallic sea nodules, lean sulfide ores etc.
For optimised floatation circuit designs/performance, as regards recovery of metal values and utility consumption, EIL is working closely with Hindustan Zinc Limited, Udaipur.
In view of country's requirement to exploit available low grade ores/tailings to obtain valuable metals such as copper, zinc, lead etc. EIL's R&D Division is actively pursuing development work in the area of bioleaching. A 2000 T dump is being set up near Udaipur for this.
