Heat Exchangers: EIL has access to the latest and globally most sophisticated software for thermal design of Heat Exchangers by virtue of its membership of HTRI (Heat Transfer Research, Inc.), USA. In its more than 3 decades of design experience, EIL has designed over 8000 Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers, 500 Air Cooled Heat Exchangers and 50 Multitube / Double Pipe type Heat Exchangers for various units of refineries, petrochemicals, gas processing, fertilizers, chemical, alumina plants and offshore platforms of indigenous and foreign clients. EIL’s repertoire extends through the entire spectrum of single-phase services, Condensers, Vaporizers and Reboilers with operating pressures ranging from 50 mm HgA to 350 kg/cm2g. Additionally, EIL has wide experience with specialized knowhow items such as High Flux Tubes, Low Fin Tubes for Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers, Wire Fin Tube Inserts for Air Cooled Exchangers, Brazed Aluminium, Electric Heaters and welded plate Packinox Exchangers, etc. Further, EIL has rich experience in de-bottlenecking, trouble shooting and revamping of Heat Exchangers in various plants.
EIL has designed over 50 energy efficient Feed Preheat trains for multiple cases of operation for CDU/ VDU, DCU, HCU, FCCU and DHDT units of the refineries using sophisticated in-house developed software for synthesis and optimization of Heat Exchanger Network, based on PINCH technology. EIL has also revamped nearly 40 Preheat Exchanger Networks for increased throughput and/or improved energy efficiency.
Fired Heaters: EIL has designed over 300 Fired Heaters of various types – Vertical Cylindrical, Cabin/Box: Single or Twin Cell – with heat duties upto 97 MMkcal/h and offers fired heater systems with upto 90% plus thermal efficiency that are suitable even for burning heavy oils such as vacuum residue. Some of the specialized designs executed by EIL include Double-fired configuration for high severity services like Coker Furnace, Deep Cut Vacuum Heaters; Arbor type configuration for CCR units; Sodium Heater for petrochemical plants
EIL pioneered the development of Cast Tube and Glass Tube Air Preheaters in India. Its innovative design of tight-sealing peep doors minimizes air ingress into the furnace. It has the capability for carrying out flexibility and dynamic analysis of the coils and can also undertake CFD (computational fluid dynamics) studies for ensuring uniform distribution of combustion air to the burners.
Mass Transfer: EIL has been designing state-of-the-art High Performance Trays and Packed Columns for distillation, adsorption, stripping and heat transfer applications in refineries, gas processing and chemical industries. With an extensive data of over 1500 columns, EIL offers optimum column configuration and cost effective design of the following range of Mass Transfer devices for all sizes of column diameter.
Valve, Sieve, Bubble Cap, Dual Flow, Disk and Do-nut, Baffle and Collector trays
High Performance Random Packings
Structured Packings
Very high open area grid (EI Grid)
State-of-the-art Liquid & Vapour Distributors having non-fouling features
EIL’s specialized designs of refinery crude and vacuum column flash zone permits higher recovery of gas oil and increased run length between successive turnarounds. EIL has also pioneered development of a special “ Vapor Vane Type” feed inlet device that considerably reduces the entrainment in flash zone. Adoption of this device along with EIL-Parlpak structured packing can significantly reduce column diameter in grass root design and result in higher throughput in revamp scenario.
EIL also provides design and detailed engineering services for Oil-Gas and Water Test and Production Separators; Gas Dehydration Systems; Water De-Oxygenation Systems; Waste heat recovery systems (for turbine exhaust), etc. employed in onshore and offshore oil and gas field installations. EIL designs are compact, cost effective and meet the stringent requirements of gas quality, glycol loss and water in oil.
Vacuum Ejector Systems: Based upon in-house developed sophisticated software and extensive test results from EIL’s R&D Center, EIL has capability and has designed over 50 Ejector Systems for widely ranging service conditions including creating a high vacuum of the order of 5 mm HgA.
Waste Heat Boilers: EIL has designed over 60 Waste Heat Boilers for sulphuric acid, nitric acid, ammonia, coke calcination, hydrogen reformer and sulphur recovery plants. EIL has also designed CO-Boilers for FCCU with technology back up from M/s Oschatz Gmbh, Germany.
Sulphur Recovery Unit equipment: By virtue of its wide experience in combustion technology, EIL offers services for designing/ selecting/ specifying Sulphur Recovery Unit equipment such as Reaction Furnace, Waste Heat Boiler, Sulphur Condensers and Incinerator packages including Stacks.
Environmental Services
To contain the menace of growing industrial pollution, EIL has now taken the lead to make NOx and SOx abatement technologies available in the country.
As a licensee of ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Co., USA, EIL offers low cost, proven, selective non-catalytic reduction ‘THERMAL DeNOX’ technology for abatement of NOx from the combustion products. The process is based on the gas phase homogeneous reaction between NOx and ammonia resulting in a reduction of NOx to molecular nitrogen and water vapour. It has a major advantage of application even in case of heavy oil firing.
With achievable NOx reduction up to 70% it easily meets the emission control norms existing in various advanced countries and also those being proposed by the Central Pollution Control Board of India.
THERMAL DeNOx process technology can be successfully used for Boilers, Incinerators and Process furnaces in refineries, petrochemicals, fertilizers, power and other related process industries.
EIL today has vast experience, knowledge and expertise to handle Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) systems for treating oxides of Sulphur (SOx) and particulate from the flue gases. This non-catalytic process is based on absorption of SOx and particulate removal in a series of intense water spray curtains provided in spray tower. These systems have very low system pressure drop and typically removes more than 90% of SOx content from the flue gases. EIL has handled FGD systems for treating FCCU off gases and has used its expertise to make FGD systems simple, reliable and cost effective.
In a nutshell, EIL is a total solution provider for everything connected with Heat and Mass Transfer services
